if i turn my computer on, all features for firefox 3 and all supported extentions work as per usual. however, if i restart firefox and try to open it again, i am unable to acess certain menues, such as bookmarks, tools, history (they do not open anything/all bookmarks are gone).also, my bookmarks toolbar menue appears blank and the back/forwards buttons stop working (pressing backspace or CTRL+ -> or <- doesn't work either). lastly, the saved password feature doesn't fill in the fields after this happens. once i restart my system, however, the first time i start Firefox, everything works properly.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start Firefox normally
2.use normal applications.
3.shut down Firefox.
4.reopen firefox
Actual Results:
above applications did not work properly
Expected Results:
everthing should work nicely every time i open Firefox.

Do you get the same problem if you use the Firefox safemode ?

yes, it still does this in safemode. however, i did find something else new recently: after using a session of Firefox, a 'firefox.exe' process is started in the task manager. each time i use Firefox, the old one stays and i get a new one. that means when i use Firefox a lot, i get a ton of these, some with high mem usage, some with low. if i shut all of these down after using firefox, the next time i open Firefox everything works. this is still a problem, but this way i don't have to restart my system every time i use Firefox.

Firefox should not hang at closing and if it hangs a starting firefox should not allow you to load the same profile.
If you run Firerfox in the safemode, it still doesn't close ?

it doesn't stay in the processes on task manager if i start and end Firefox in safe mode, if that's anything. but i can't use any of the add-ons in safe mode. is my problem with one of my add-ons perhaps?

so, i uninstalled each add-on and backed up my book marks. then i uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it. everything seemed to work (no hanging Firefox.exe processes), until i started to re-install some of the add-ons. i don't know if they are the problem, but PicLens was not letting me uninstall it right and when i re-downloaded Zotero, Firefox started hanging again. however, i tried it again, and now Zotero works fine.

The safemode is just Firefox without addons and Themes.
If it works in the safemode then one of you installed addons is causing this problem.
You can just disable the addons for testing instead of uninstalling them.
(but they are only deactivated after restarting)

yea, it must have been an add-on that was the problem. thank you for your help and time. i really like Firefox more than the other explorers and am glad it works properly now.

if it was an add-on causing problems then the report is invalid.
FIXED is reserved for code checked in that repaired an actual bug.
