Hello, I wondered about my menu bar only consuming less than the half of the space, the other half could be used for anything useful, eg, one could place his/her bookmarks toolbox there.
As an additional info I do not use bookmark toolbox as it shrinks the dimensions of the client area, but this way, it would fit into an otherwise empty place, so maybe I would use it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
Do you mean the file-menu? Or are you talking about the bookmarks toolbar?

That already works : you right click on the menubar, then choose customize. You can now drag the "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" placeholder from the old toolbar to the menubar. Then click "Done". You can now hide the old (empty) toolbar with the View->Toolbars menu, unless you use it to place something else (the location bar maybe ?).

right click (also drag&drop) isn't straightforward for me as I cannot see if it does anything useful until I try it. Well, my screen has 1400x1050 pixels, evaluates to 1470000... smells like brute forcing.
I followed Jo's solution on Ubuntu 7.10 and it works as you wanted it to. This is a screenshot. Does this not work for you?
