442928 - Private Data/Cache will not clear

Options/Privacy/Private data settings set to clear everything,(browsing, download,SAVED FORM AND SEARCH,cache, cookies), except passwords. However search history remains after clearing. During sessions, entries/searches do not clear from Search Engine Bar as they did in prior version.


Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Set Tools/Options/Privacy/Private Data to "Always clear..."
2.Enter search strings either in to URL window or Search Engine Window
3.Either "clear Private Data" with a manual "clear now" or exit Browser and then reload.
Actual Results:  
All URL HISTORY data is still there. During Browsing sessions, entries in "Search Engine Bar" remain after a manual "clear private data."

Expected Results:  
In prior versions, ALL data is removed from cache 

I will remove all Plugins and see if problem remains. If so, I will do a fresh re-install of the Version 3.

The location bar in Firefox 3 doesn't only show the history, but also the regular bookmarks. Don't you see the Yellow Star at the right after you've cleared the private data ?

I can confirm this behaviour with Minefield/3.7a5pre (I've been using Alpha's for quite some time now). 
This is a new profile, no extensions installed, and cache is never cleared when shutting down. A restart always gives me the pages from cache, while -according to my settings- it should start with a clear cache.

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
