443010 - Weird text and graphics wrapping/artifacting in page and chrome makes UI unusable

I'm seeing weird artifacts in both the page and in the chrome -- and text/graphics are all wrapping to a single character width in the left of whatever container they're in.

I'm using the FF3.0 that is packaged with Ubuntu Hardy, but it occurs in all versions of FF3, including the betas. I have all extensions diabled.

This doesn't happen in FF2.

I'm using a Dell XPS M1330, with an Nvidia GeForce 8400M graphics card.

I'll be attaching a screenshot.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the browser.
2. Navigate to a page.
3.
Actual Results:  
Weird artifacting and text crammed into a space one character wide.

Expected Results:  
Normal page and chrome rendering.

I should add -- no other apps exhibit this behavior, not Thunderbird, not Rhythmbox -- only FF3.

Although bug 433920 is of course different, perhaps it points to some common Nvidia driver issue?

This bug was reported using Firefox 3.0 or older, which is no longer supported. The bug has also not been changed in over 500 days and is still in UNCO.
Reporter, please retest this bug in Firefox 3.6.10 or later using a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles. If you still see this problem, please update the bug. If you no longer see the bug, please set the resolution to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
