User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 When I went to add a comment I notice that firefox froze. I then checked my memory usage and found firefox using around 700 MB. This was the first site I opened other than google.com/firefox. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to site 2.Start writing a comment 3.Watch your memory usage. Actual Results: Firefox freezes till you end the process. Expected Results: The comment submits without problem
Its working fine... I have Linux, Xp and Vista... and all of them my memory usage is not going more then 60MB...Can u try in safe mode???
Please refer to Bug 371718... Its much related to that issue...
In safe mode the memory usage is normal. Could an extension be causing this? I have: IE Tabs Adblock Plus Mcafee SiteAdvisor

Now the site, is loading and not using loads of memory. I don't know what to think now. I wonder if it could have been caused by something else and not firefox; like a conflict with a prgram.
You mean that you don't see this issue anymore even with the extensions enabled?
I think it will work fine with extensions install.. I have on Vista and Xp and works fine...
I'm having the same problem using the same FF build. I already tried with extensions off and the problem persisted. Could it be the Live Bookmark?

Not just with that URL, but any URL. Starting in safe mode did not help but launching a fresh profile did. Updating to this build did not help either when using the old profile: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
(In reply to comment #10) Do you have many live bookmarks? If yes, then you are seeing bug 329534.
I been with you guys since Mosaic, long long time, and worked at Netscape right before and through the AOL/TW stuff through 2001. I keep my firefox updated every time you tell me to do so. The first 3.0 build of Firefox that I installed seemed nice, did a great job of reclaiming memory once windows are disposed of, but every build since then seems to suck up more memory. At this point, on my XP machine, I kill firefox several times each day cause it sucks up memory to the point that my box is at a stand-still. When I kill it, it is taking up 600-700 MB of memory. I am very grateful for the option when I restart to continue where I left off, but it is getting out of control. What is up with that? Yeah, I might have 10-20 tabs open, but the 2.X releases seemed to deal with it better than the current 3.X releases. I'm really starting to wonder if I shouldn't use something else. I don't want to! But this is driving me nutz. I do appreciate all the work you guys have been doing for all these years, but what is going on? The current build I have is, I don't even know cause the "about" window won't even come up cause my comp is already overloaded with firefox itself. best (and hoping the best) Daniel Billotte Most respect, I love you guys, but WTF? sincerely, Daniel Billotte
Daniel, your issue could be different. http://quality.mozilla.org/bug-writing-guidelines has some info you could try to resolve this. If this is a different issue, you can file a new bug.
Version: unspecified → 3.0 Branch
Reporter's issue is WFM (comment 3, comment 5) All others, if you can reproduce started in safe mode, using current beta*, and make sure flashplayer is at version 10 (see about:plugins) then please file a new bug * http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
