one of my addons experienced a spike in downloads. likely someone wrote an article about it, but there's no way to determine where the traffic came from. a low bar solution would be to provide a simple list of recent referrers to an addon's page. a high bar solution would be to use a sophisticated statistics package, to provide a view of the stats for both downloads and pageviews on a per-addon basis.
It would be pretty intensive to process logs like that. If it's worth pursuing, it's a metrics bug.
