User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; . NET CLR 2.0.50727) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; it-IT; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 After the layout change in the past days, I "lost" the language selector. Only now I have noticed it is at the very end of the page (see image) http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/3002/langselecthf7.png Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. N/A 2. N/A 3. N/A Actual Results: It is difficult to reach the language selector without scrolling down all the page. Expected Results: The language selector should be moved near the translation menu, since it is a most useful tool for contributors (especially if used in conjunction with the "duplicate tab" feature in Firefox 3).
The location of the language selector was admittedly optimized for the end user, assuming the correct language will be detected automatically. If en-US is shown instead, that means there is no translation of the article yet, and we keep the "Translate this page" link in the Actions box at the top. As a contributor, how are you using the language selector?
When I translate a page it's useful to duplicate a tab and then select the English page. In this way I can keep the translation near the original. I found it very comfortable. I agree with you - for non logged users it can remain at the end of the page.
I vote for not changing this. You can drag the "Translate this page" link to an empty area in the tab bar.
I don't actually need the "Translate this page" link, but the capability to open the original Englisg version of a given page. It is not a thing of vital importance, but it was handy.

What's the word on this? I'm unclear on what's broken/needs fixing.
Since we have the english orginal in the localization window now, I'm marking this fixed
