User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16 I set up Mozilla to have the Clear Private Data window appear after every session. However, with the new download, whenever I click Clear Private Data Now, nothing happens. Only other option is cancel (which defeats the purpose). Please help! Hmmm, this bug was reported against FF2.0 (now outdated) and could be closed... BUT looking at the most recent nightly of FF3.2, I am surprised to see that though you can still set FF to clear data on exit, the checkbox to make the dialog appear ("Ask me before clearing private data") has gone missing in tools-Options-privacy. So it is no longer possible to make the clear private data dialogue appear automatically when closing FF. Which robs users of a lot of flexibility in handling their end-of-session clearing, since now it is either all or nothing to clear (the settings don't allow limited-time-frame clearance at closedown either). Anyone who knows more about the rationale behind this? Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2a1pre) Gecko/20090116 Minefield/3.2a1pre

Thomas, you can set Firefox to clear history upon closing. Options, Privacy, use custom settings.
(In reply to comment #4) > Thomas, you can set Firefox to clear history upon closing. Options, Privacy, > use custom settings. I know, but there's a related (if slightly OT) regression (as laid out in comment 1) that we no longer have the option of "ask me (confirm) before clearing private data", which would allow me to choose how much data i want to delete on exit, or even skip deleting data for one session. Right now, all we can do is *always* delete *all* data on exit, which is a lot less flexible than what we used to have, namely you could make the delete history data dialog pop up each time you close ff. With *all* data, I refer to all data on the time scale (last hour, last week, etc.), not the various types of data.
Please create a new bug thomas.
No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
