After installing Firefox 3.0.1, it got stuck in an infinite restart loop. That is, the Add-ons dialog keeps asking to restart Firefox to complete my changes.
I was using incompatible add-ons (extensions.checkCompatibility was off), so that's likely to be related. I will attach relevant files.

I should mention that I attempted to fix this myself first by disabling and uninstalling some add-ons, so there should be some redundant information. (Sorry about the bugspam.)

Ok, I need some information from your windows registry, please follow these
steps:
1. Start - run - regedit.exe
2. In the folder tree on the left open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
3. In there open the item labelled SOFTWARE
4. In there open the item labelled Mozilla
5. In there open the item labelled Firefox
6. In there right click the item labelled Extensions and select Export
7. Save the file somewhere and then attach it to this bug report.

I doubt this is what you're looking for. All I could find was:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla\Mozilla Firefox 3.0.1\extensions]
"Components"="C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Firefox\\components"
"Plugins"="C:\\Program Files\\Mozilla Firefox\\plugins"

Not quite however if you just save the entire HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Mozilla branch then that would be helpful. You can just attach the file using the add an attachment link above.

Thanks. I assume at one point you had AVG installed, have you since uninstalled it? Can you look to see if C:\Program Files\AVG exists on your machine and if so what is in it. Also do the same for C:\Documents and Settings\Tim\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.v9l\extensions\{8f8fe09b-0bd3-4470-bc1b-8cad42b8203a}-trash

It's still there, actually, but their extension stopped appearing under Add-ons at some point--maybe just in this new profile. So C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8 contains a standard install. Is the extension supposed to add itself to each profile, rather than system-wide?
{8f8fe09b-0bd3-4470-bc1b-8cad42b8203a} is Live HTTP Headers. I don't seem to have a trash folder for it in that old profile, just the standard installation one.

Yes AVG is supposed to appear for all users of the system but for some reason it isn't quite right for you.
Is the directory C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\Firefox still there and what files are there directly in it?

The directory is not there. I just reinstalled AVG to make sure: the directory only gets created if I select the LinkScanner component upon installation. I'm pretty sure I always did this, so I'm guessing the behavior changed between versions. Eitherway, I don't suppose this could be related to AVG then.
Is there anything else you'd like to know? I virtually immediately migrated my stuff to a new profile, so this is not an issue for me, but I'd be glad to dig a little deeper to prevent it in future releases.

No I think I have enough details here now to be able to figure out what is going on and hopefully stop it from being a problem in the future, thanks.
