back button u/s history lost

on launch the (default as installed) homepage is not retrieved, all history from previous sessions is lost, and after navigating to any page via a hand entered url neither right mouse 'back' or the back button work - both are 'greyed out'.
At startup the following apears in the error console -

blank page, no url in address bar
Expected Results:
default homepage should be retrieved -

os is **** vista home premium SP1

Do you have any extensions installed or is this a fresh profile ?

Only AVG safe search on a fresh machine
- it looks like it may be another Vista 'feature' since a reboot has fixed the problem.
I should have tried that before especialy when the 'NS_ERROR_OUT_OF_MEMORY' appeared...

The stuff I just added in bug 446698 comment 10 would be just as relevant for this bug as for the other one, although it probably does not help to deduce why the corruption occurred for Ed.

This is a mass search for Firefox General bugs filed against version 3.0 that are UNCO and have not been changed for 200 days.
Reporter, please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or alter. Firefox 3.0 is no longer supported and is no longer receiving updates. After you update, please create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/kb/managing+profiles, and test to see if your bug still exists. If you still the bug, then please post a comment with the version you tested against, and the problem. If the issue is no longer there, please set the RESOLUTION to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
