The software updater was retrying update from 2.0.0.15 to 2.0.0.16, and then accepting my "Ok" to try again, continually, with no other options.  Need a way to cancel tries.  Had boot to other o.s. to delete the ..\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird folder from my x32 Vista (MozMAPI32.dll was obstructing deletion even after reboot to x64 vista).  Then, I reinstalled from full download of 2.0.0.16 and the updater complained of failure when Thunderbird started (after full install) and persisted to download a full install...so I cancelled it.  Problem solved...your job: put a button or something to cancel the continual retry of the update!
