Need to know what Firefox version is asking for a profile choice to be made, and its pathname.  Secondarily what application called Firefox.   Not knowing what version of Firefox is asking for a profile selection could result in serious damage,  or unintended updating to a profile rendering it unusable, for it's intended purpose.   Might add would also like to see the Firefox version also on the title bar of the profile request.

Related to  Bug 367596 – [RFE] Create a support info page/lister. 
but information is also needed before even selecting a profile, in order to
chose the correct profile.

Just to avoid confusion, it's 3.0.1 not 3.0.0.1

This is a mass search for bugs which are in the Firefox General component, are
UNCO, have not been changed for 500 days and have an unspecified version. 

Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or later, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the issue, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the status to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.
