On starting up my laptop tonight and launching Firefox, the window flashes very briefly, then comes up with the Mozilla Crash Reporter. I get the same behavior trying to start in safe mode with everything dilabled.
I even (after backing up my profile directory), fully uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled, tried to start it from a new profile, and it crashes just the same.
I also tried logging in as a different user on this machine, to isolate a Windows profile problem: same crash.
Running 32-bit Windows Vista Ultimate SP1. There was no problem earlier today; just on starting up my machine tonight.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start Firefox 3 in normal or safe mode.

Can't; the Mozilla Crash Reporter comes up immediately. I only briefly (<1 sec) see the outline of the Firefox window when trying to launch it, but it never actually comes up. Is there another way to get to the information you're looking for?

This link explains how to get crash report ID's:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Location_of_crash_reports
Please paste a few of the Crash-ID's here. Check the creation date on the file to make sure it is a report from a recent crash.
Gotcha. Tried opening it again this morning to get a fresh one.

Going by the stack below your startup crash is almost certainly related to mysearch (see http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/pest/pest.aspx?id=453090717 for more info)
I would suggest you remove it and perform a virus scan and spyware / adware scan if you did not purposefully install it.

Yep, that was it. A subsequent scan came up negative, but removing this lets Firefox start now.
Thank you for your help!

Glad it's fixed. This is INVALID not FIXED as nothing was changed by Mozilla and it is not a bug in Mozilla software.
