Just afeter automattically migrating to version 3.0.1, from the auto-update, my firefox browser just started to run very slowly, actually ridiculous slowly, muxh slower than in version 2.0. Before upgrading, when using version 3.0, everything was wonderfull, the browser was very fast. Note that no changes ocurred to my sytstem or my connection. All the ping times for www.google.com and www.gmail.com seen ok, no high ping times. i wish someone knows how to fix this, its very bad that my firefox is so slow.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install firefox 3.0.1 from the auto-update
2. Start the system and enter any page.
3.
Actual Results:
My browser eas very slow and took almost one minute to show any web page.
Expected Results:
It should have just started and shown the start page normally.

try the safemode or an additional test profile:

I already tryed in an alternate profile, and rigth now i am triyng safe-mode, but still running very lazzy. I have an impression that in safe mode it is sligthly faster, but still not even 10% the speed of my old 3.0 version. Also, the memory usage is very high, like 100 M. I wish the new alpha test version 3.1 gets the old speed.

Firefox 3.01 isn't slower for me at all on two win23 systems.
i also have experienced this problem. i am running a 1.2 ghz celeron winxp sp3 computer with firefox 3.0.1. i had no problems with firefox 2. upgrading to 3 really slowed it down. the cpu is hammered constantly when loading a page. ping times are fine and using lynx results in pages loading quite quickly. i am having to downgrade to firefox 2 just to be able to do any kind of browsing.
