Can you please give more information, what exactly the issue is, how to reproduce, and what website it appears on. Also, have you tried in Safe mode (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode)?

As this is a public, free game you can go to the site yourself to confirm the bug. I am using Shockwave 11, Mac OS X 10.5.5, Firefox 3.0.4. URL is http://www.conquerorgame.com/game_current.php

I just realized the original reporter reported this bug on Windows; I am using a Mac obviously. But it seems to be the same bug.

This happens usually if you click somewhere, for example in address bar, or outside of shockwave content, and then click again in Shochwave area. Here is one more example: http://www.anniundfred.de/games/index.php?name=Zauberkristalle&game=Zauberkristalle&ext=dcr when game loads, click on "Spiel starten" text - the screen turns into background color, not moves cursor horizontally, when it will be over the "invisible" girl icon - the icon will appear. Such things can be reproduced with every shockwave content in Firefox 3, Mac OSX. I'm using Firefox 3.0.3, Mac OSX 10.4.11 (PowerPC G4). The same I can reproduce on Intel Core Duo Mac running 10.4.11 I hope this would help. --Boris

I just tried to replicate Boris' bug. On a fresh (Mac) Firefox session I was unable to but after reloading the page it was quite easy, then Firefox crashed. I submitted the bug report via Crash Reporter and included a reference to this bug in the crash report.

Can you please give the crash id? Type about:crashes in your addressbar, and find the right number. I still can not reproduce this, so I am going to ask you to do something to help. Please read http://new.quality.mozilla.org/bug-writing-guidelines and follow the steps for all bugs. It is important to try in Safe Mode and a new profile. Just confirming that you are still seeing this with Firefox 3.0.4 and shockwave 11, correct?

crashID: 604bac01-23b4-4f29-be82-c44e20081120 bug happens in safe mode. Firefox 3.0.4 and Shockwave 11.0429 The bug even happens on the adobe version site at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/

Please finish the steps found in the above article. There are there for a reason. Especially with a new profile. We don't ask these things for fun.
If you stick "bp-" before a crash ID, it will turn into a link in bugzilla: bp-604bac01-23b4-4f29-be82-c44e20081120 (from comment 8)

timeless, please don't put the crash dump in the bug, it makes it hard to read. An attachment of link to the crash-stats server is better. It seems like there are a few different issues going on here. The black screen, and the crash. Maybe a new bug should be filed for the crash.

Hello everybody! About what is that bug now? About screen redraw problems on Mac OSX /Firefox 3. Can firefox ot abobe teams confirm that problems with redraw present? Can anyone from adobe or mozilla take care of it? I'm not sure that it will be good if we will put special notice for Mac user on our websites - "do not use firefox! use safari instead!". Thanks in advance, Boris Shabashev, www.thewebproduction.com

OK, I may be able to confirm this. First, got another crash, bp-7fa9687a-e123-42d9-b36e-d8cf02081125 Second, I was able to watch the opening animation (until the crash) but there was a hang, then the address bar blacked out, then the nav bar, then crash. Is that what you are seeing"? I will file a new bug with crash stuff, which may end up being the issue. Blacking out may only be a symptom

Re:OK, I may be able to confirm this. it's not about blacking out adress bar... it's about turning shockwave content into solid color. It maybe black, maybe white - it depends on html... here the simpliest example: go http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ - you will see showckwave movie which shows version number of shockwave player. Click on shockwave logo - it will disappear - the place where content was will turn white. Now move the cursor diagonally to the right and down. wWen your cursor reach the place where were blue buttons "Create", "see", "about" - content will reappear. (rollovers in shockwave content still working...). --Boris

OK, I followed the steps, created a new profile AND started in safe mode. The bug still happens even at http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ Clicking off the window and back again is the best way to trigger the behavior. Although it should be said in this case the Shockwave stage area goes white, not black. .. I'm guessing it's related to the background color of the Shockwave movie, or the web page.

Closing old bugs in the Plugins component. We aren't going to track issues in 3rd-party plugins in the Mozilla bug tracker. In addition, support for NPAPI plugins will be removed at the end of this year; for more details see the post at https://blog.mozilla.org/futurereleases/2015/10/08/npapi-plugins-in-firefox/ If there is a serious bug in Firefox, it needs to be filed in the "Core" product, "Plug-Ins" component.
