Removing the nsbeta3 nomination. These will be condensed into a smaller number of bugs and then renominated.

The Help menu should be: *Help - Help Contents --------------- - Release Notes but right now it is: *Help - Release Notes --------------- - About Mozilla Could we rename "About Mozilla" to "Help Contents", go to a appropriate place when chosen and set it to be above "Release Notes"? Would that be it to fix the bug?
No. The About box does not provide help contents. `About Mozilla' should be in the Help menu spec, and it should be at the bottom of the menu.
So, *Help - Release Notes --------------- - About Mozilla Is correct? I will update the spec.
Cool. Which also means you can resolve this bug as FIXED when you're done!
It would only be correct until I fix bug 54561. :-) If Mozilla people didn't mind some items being disabled for a while, my ideal Help menu would be: _Help ===== {S_how|_Hide} Tooltips [`Show Balloons' on Mac OS] --------------------------- _Help Using {suiteName} [F1 on Windows, Ctrl+`?' elsewhere] _Tutorial [part of bug 54561] _Release Notes --------------------------- _{suiteName} Update ... [this goes to a distributor-specific URL] --------------------------- _About {suiteName} [Shift+F1 on Windows, Shift+Ctrl+`?' elsewhere]
Spec updated as: *Help - Release Notes --------------- - About Mozilla Let me know when and what changes to make to the spec when this changes.
> {S_how|_Hide} Tooltips [`Show Balloons' on Mac OS] No, the show/hide tooltips is a preference. Normal users don't look in the Help menu to turn that on/off. I think we should keep it in the Appearance panel where it belongs. > _Help Using {suiteName} [F1 on Windows, Ctrl+`?' elsewhere] > _Tutorial [part of bug 54561] If you have an idea of where these URLs should point, I think we should add it to the spec as well as Mozilla. Otherwise we shouldn't add it. > _{suiteName} Update ... [this goes to a distributor-specific URL] This is up to the distributors to add for themselves. I don't think we should include it in Mozilla.
Let's mark this bug FIXED, because the description has been accomplished; we matched it to the specs. Then when we have a tutorial or something ready we can reopen this and fix it. Agreed?
> the show/hide tooltips is a preference So is `Show Balloons', but that's in the Help menu. So is `Hide the Office Assistant', but that's in the Help menu too. > If you have an idea of where these URLs should point somewhere in chrome:// which doesn't exist yet (which is why I said they should be disabled). > Let's mark this bug FIXED Ok, but only when the URL for this bug report doesn't return an error message.
> So is `Show Balloons' That is mac-only. I still think we should have as much options as possible at the same place, to not confuse the user. > somewhere in chrome:// which doesn't exist yet Allright. And that is bug 54561. > Ok, but only when the URL for this bug report doesn't return an error message. Updated the URL field to reflect the address of the new spec. I am marking this FIXED. Let's reopen it when we have new material, such as a tutorial and/or a Help guide.

Build 2001-01-2204: NT4, Mac 9.04 Build 2001-01-1908: Linux 6.2 Verified Fixed. This bug was originally logged to make sure that there were Accelerators for the Help menu items. According to the spec there are no required accelerators so that portion is ok. Then this bug turned into a discussion of what menu items should be present. The menu items that are present do match the spec so this portion is ok as well.
