450217 - hang when downloading email

thundebird is becoming painful to use - creating huge hassles - this was never the case before, it used to be user friendly - what are you guys doing that is causing so much difficulty?


1. hanging up wwhen downloading emails from any of the folowing addresses:
[e-mail], [e-mail], [e-mail].

2. when hung-up, closing thunderbird then reopening advises a version still running.have to restart pc

3. forward emails - attachments are not recieved by recipients


4. address book - uploading old address book causes sub-directories to be lost - i.e. get one long messy list of addreses, and cannot remember which goes where

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:

Expected Results:  
hangs up on occassions

it should have operated coirrrectly

Have you tried in Safe Mode to resolve these issues? and make sure your address are valid. It sounds like you may have a configuration error, or the server is not responding.

#2 might be bug 382446 which is fixed on trunk and v3.0a3

Can you test 3.0a3 after backing up your system?

which leaves #1 "hanging up when downloading emails" (I'm morphing this bug to that issue).  Questions:

1. Are these pop accounts or imap?
2. What hangs ...  The entire UI?  Getting email only? 
3. You imply there was a release where you didn't see this problem (i.e. prior to 2.0.0.16?).  What is the newest release of thunderbird where you do not have a problem?
