I've tried severel mouses so I don't think it's caused by my mouse. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Right click on a link Actual Results: It goes automatically into one of the items in the context menu Expected Results: Show me the menu and let me to choose. The same problem also happened once or two when I right click on an KDE application in systray in my xfce4.4, and I don't konw why.
Caused by a buggy add-on? Please try safe-mode to find out: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox) or else try a new profile or a re-installation in a new empty folder: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder
This bug happens very often to me. I have two computers with Ubuntu Linux installed. The one with the big screen it never happens on, but very often on my Acer Aspire one. The last one has a 600 pixel screen height. The problem appears when there is not enough room for a context menu to show above *AND* under the mouse pointer, i.e. the context menu can't fit from the top of the screen to the mouse pointer and the same from the bottom of the screen to the mouse pointer. If the menu didn't fit it collapses immediately and selects one of the item on the menu. I have several addons that makes the menu longer than normal, but I have the same set of addons on both of the computers. The ultimate would be to allow the menu to fit to the available space and to have an arrow up and down to scroll the menu.
So this bug appears usually when the right-clicked link is almost equally from the top and from the bottom. (The middle parts of the screen.)
This bug happened today on the big computer and had nothing to do with the screen hight. Does Firefox update the context menu on idle time and not when the right click is done? The menus on Ubuntu linux are updated on idle time and you need to a special code to come around this. I have needed to do this in a not yet published software. The menus are not verified for availability when a menu drops down. Is it this bug that come to live here?
