It has been decided to future the hookup of the UI ON/OFF pref for displaying newsgroup names in regular or abbreviated fashion. Default is now to display abbreviated names. Pref is located in the Server Settings panel of Account Settings dialog for a News/NNTP account. Refer to decision in bug #41613. Remove the pref from the (news account) Server Settings panel in Account Settings dialog: "Show newsgroup names in the Mail Folder pane as: [ ] Full names (example given) [ ] Abbreviate names (example given)"
