I believe that the url bar / location bar implementation in the browser itself should be as small and simple as possible.

Any extra functionality (drop down lists, displaying page titles, displaying page icons, searching / autocomplete) belongs in an optional add-on / extension.
This isn't going to happen - the awesome bar is a significant new feature.
