Somewhat spontaneously when I opened Firefox 3, my bookmarks disappeared, my history is gone, the current URL isn't displayed, the back and refresh buttons are disabled.

It has occurred on all my PCs running Firefox 3 (and Windows Vista) although it does not occur regularly and bookmarks can be restored but that is all. It appears to be a problem with a corrupted profile however the corrupted profile is caused by regular use of Firefox 3. There is no unusual use that seems to cause this problem it just seems to spontaneously occur.

It may have something to do with closing Firefox 3 after downloading a file however I do not remember if I had just downloaded a file the other times this has occurred (this is the 3rd occurrence on this computer and the 4th in total).

It can be reproduced on a fresh install of Firefox 3 however the majority of the occurrences have been on my regularly used install which contains no major add-ons, the two largest add-ons are Chatzilla and gmail manager, the rest are somewhat standard, Java, Flash etc.

Do you use Norton on your system ?

No, I don't use Norton. I use AVG.
