BuildID: 2000071108
trying either the Cancel button on the browser authentication window (titled
"Username and Password"), or just clicking the X in the upper right corner that
my window manager provides, results in the authentication window disappearing,
and a new one taking its place. Only ways to get out of loop are 1)enter
correct info 2)closing authentication window and then clicking "stop" button
really fast 3)killing mozilla process
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to browser-authentication protected url
2.try to cancel out of authentication
3.see a new authentication window
I cannot reproduce this on 2000071408 (Red Hat Linux 6.2, Gnome + Sawmill).
Reporter: can you try it on a newer build?
just tried 2000071609, and problem is still there.
Using Debian linux 2.2 + windowmaker 0.61.1
I am definitely not seeing this on 2000071609 (Red Hat 6.2, Gnome + Sawmill).
Have you removed everything and install mozilla from scratch?
Just tried moving my .mozilla directory, and the problem went away. so I
started trying out different settings, to see if I could narrow it down, and
found that I get the weird loop only when the "Password Manager" button under
Advanced / Forms and Passwords menu is unchecked. If I check "Password
Manager", then the problem goes away.
In builds before about a week ago, this problem didn't exist (I always uncheck
"Password Manager", but only saw the problem last week)
Confirmed on 2000071708 on Linux. To summarize how to reproduce:
1. Go to Edit->Preferences, select Advanced->Forms and Passwords
2. Uncheck "Remember passwords for sites that require me to log in.
3. Go to a site requiring authentication, click Cancel
The result is that the authentication window closes, but a new one pops up.

http authentication is a network function, not an autofill one. Over to gagan.

I can still reproduce this on Linux 2000083111. Make sure you uncheck "Remember
passwords for sites that require me to log in" in Preference.
