It may be discouraging for new contributors who are midaired by other contributors to see their post "ignored". It'd help our workflow to know that someone else is already working on a question so take the next one.
This is interesting. While it can be discouraging, it's also one of the ways new forum contributors learn. The real win here is that it should make regular contributors more efficient since they're not posting in the same thread as each other unintentionally. This can be done in similar fashion to the lock we put on wiki articles?
This sounds a little bit like we're trying to solve a problem that isn't really a problem. What if one contributor is writing a response, and then the other one ignores it because he gets this notification, and then it turns out later on that the first contributor had a really generic and/or bad solution?
I'm going to wontfix this as I don't believe this is an actual problem today. If someone disagrees and can propose a solid solution, feel free to reopen.
