Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Build Identifier: This is a small UI enhancement: suppose you have two calendars, one locked and the other unlocked. If the unlocked calendar is selected in the left-side panel (I think it's the calendar-panel, according to DOMi), then click-n-drag behavior in the day or week views allows you to create an event at the specified time, in an easy way. In particular, it draws a dark rectangle over the calendar, shows you the current start and end times, and then transforms into an event when you let go of the mouse. If, however, the locked calendar is selected, then click-n-drag does nothing -- no visual feedback at all. This seems confusing... One possibility is to instead show the feedback and then open the New Event dialog, prepopulated with the appropriate data. IMHO, the user is certainly trying to create an event, and the current experience is disconcerting, "why won't you let me create an event??" Sure, it might seem inconsistent to have a quick-edit mode versus open-dialog, but it lets the user get the job done. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

Ben, what Sunbird/Lightning version? Maybe you want to try 0.9 RC1.

Whups, should've included that before :-\ I'm using TB2.0.0.16, and the latest Lightning and GData nightlies (I just updated again, to be sure). Most of my calendars are GData calendars, though I don't think this is GData-specific.

Just a ping -- this behavior is unchanged in the latest TB3.0/Lightning1.0/GData0.6 nightlies. Any thoughts?
