There's been some interest in making the Mozilla brochure available in other languages. I wanted to open this bug to help coordinate efforts for anyone who is interested in translating the text into different languages. I'll attach a text only version of the brochure to this bug next and that might be easier to deal with than the current PDF file.
Attached file Text of Mozilla brochure (obsolete) —
Posting version that fixes issues with initial text file.
Attachment #336721 - Attachment is obsolete: true
Great. I'll work with our designer to put this text into the brochure design and will post that here for proofing when it's ready.
Attached file Spanish community translation (obsolete) —
This is the version in which worked the people from mozilla-hispano and Percy Cabello
Since there are two Spanish translations, we should review both and discuss things before printing up a Spanish version of the brochure.
wow this sure came fast :)
can i be of further help, now that we have 2 versions?
greets.
I figured out that the brochure while it is one of the best ways to let people know about Mozilla by itself doesn't say that much about what Mozilla really is, so i translated the Manifesto as well.
Hope this helps
greets
noodles, that's great about translating the Manifesto. Could you post that to bug 433928? That's where we're tracking Manifesto translations. Thanks.
Ok, i will send an email to noodles to begin the review. We have another translation of the manifesto. We will have to coordinate our work.
I added the Romanian version.
Attached is a proof of the Spanish Mozilla brochure. Here are the comments from the designer who laid the text out in the PDF:

"As I thought, I had to reduce the size of the type in order to fit everything in, but hopefully its still readable. Also, the areas where I didnt have a translation I left in English, so maybe we can get the translation of those areas? Especially the headline on the cover and the legal."

Please review and we'll gather all feedback on changes that need to be made. We can open a new bug for this if needed. Also, for the legal text I'm not sure if that should or shouldn't be translated. I can follow up with someone at MoCo about that.
Thanks, David, i'm waiting for some changes noodle will send me. We saw that mis sentences. I will send this sentences in the next version.

About the legal text, we just finished to translate about:rights, with some legal text. We could see if it's similar or add a disclosure sentence, like about:rights.
You can translate the legal text, most companies do on their spanish versions, you can get the mis sentences and the legal text from the translation i made, i'll send them to Guillermo, but it is already here, so why wait.
Re legal text, I checked with cbrady and as noodles says we should be translating that along with the rest of the text.
I just added the legal text and the missing sentences, let's wait for Guillermo and his team to check them and hopefully we'll be one step closer to finally releasing a good version of the brochure :D
noodles
Attached file German translation
David, finally we are ready with the German translation of the brochure. With the help of a small group and some iterations later you can go for the first version now. If we have to fix some small issues don't hesitate to contact me.
Great. I'll work with the designer to get a draft German version of the brochure ready for proofing.
The new and, i hope, final es version
Attachment #345768 - Attachment is obsolete: true
French translation of Mozilla Brochure.
Reviewed and approved by French community.
I've recently posted Portuguese (Brazilian) and French versions of the brochure. If anyone is interested in wrapping up the German and Spanish versions or translating things into a different language, let me know.
I'm translating the brochure in Greek (actually it's in proof reading status) but i can't work with pdf files.
The question is: how fast can we get a PDF file ready for professional printing? Our main goal is to have it ready for Software Freedom Day so we can spread it in various events across the country.
Can we make it before September 10th?

David, I think we have a final es version we made with the graphic designer, do you need I send it to you?
Re comment #22, George, we can work with the original brochure designer to put text into a PDF that's ready for printing. If you just want to attach a Word file (or text file or whatever) I'll work with the designer to get a PDF ready for proofing. We should be able to turn things around pretty quickly.

Re comment #23, Guillermo, please send me the final version and I'm happy to post it. I have a PDF, but I think it's a proof and not necessarily the final version.
The Greek translation is canceled. The final result and sounds way too "american" so it will be a waste of paper. We need something more "europian" to work with.
Re comment #25, please feel free to make suggestions about how to make the text less "american". Or goal is to have a message about Mozilla that is accessible to people everyone, so we're happy to make changes to the text as needed.
I've started a discussion on the active members mailing list about it. Cross-posting here:
Looking back at the text i think the main objections are the "Manifesting Mozilla" and "Charitable giving" sections.
The first one sounds a little pompous (at least translated) and most of the events listed are not relevant to a local community (well, they're also outdated somehow but that's another thing).
The second one shouldn't take all that space IMHO, it would be much better to exist as a URL under the "Donating to the Mozilla foundation" line in the "Community" section. The way it is now is like saying "we are good people and we are working for you, we have enough contributors already and we just need your money more than any other contribution you could make". There's no such thing as an active Mozilla community in my country and what we need is to mobilize people willing to contribute and form a community, not something like that.
Plus, the Mozilla foundation address would better be a footnote. I printed an actual copy and fold it and it's just saying "Internet by the people, for the people, made in USA". Don't get me wrong here, it's not anti-Americanism, it's just giving the wrong signal (at least in my country), it's like saying "Americans know better, they'll do the job, we don't have to do a thing".
Re comment #27, I'll be interested in hearing the results of the discussion on the members list. I set up a page on the wiki we can use to track suggestions for changes or updates. Feel free to edit that with any suggestions.

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mozilla.org/Brochure_update
Actually nobody replied to the message i send so i guess it's either just me or nobody else is interested.
Actually i had thought about the events being outdated too, and that is a good point, about the address... well that is the actual address, actually i am Mexican and i am trying to help in building a community here, it is just an address, which actually helps people to feel more confident about the product, as knowing the company has a physical headquarter, actually the brochure is an invitation to collaborate with the project, so it do is hard to get a wrong signal as "Americans will do the job".
It may sound some kind of aggressive, and i just want to state that i am not trying to start a fight or anything of the kind, those are solely my thoughts about the matter.
Re comment #29, even if you didn't get any feedback I think your comments are worth considering for a revised brochure. Please feel free to add any of your specific feedback to the wiki page.

Re comment #30, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We're certainly open to making changes so if you think something is coming across the wrong way, let's flag it for something to work on in the next version.
Is this brochure still in use? If yes, we would like to translate it into Bosnian.
Yes, people are still using this. Please feel free to translate the text and I'll help you get a printable PDF together.
Are we going to translate the source file directly, or what?
In the attachments is a text file that you can use as the source.
Maybe we should update this brochure, since the latest Firefox version is 3.5 and today Firefox has over 300 million users worldwide...
Sure, updating the brochure is something we could do. I think first steps is figuring out what areas need to be updated. Feel free to add thoughts or suggestions to:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mozilla.org/Brochure_update

We could also consider revisiting the whole concept. On the marketing list recently there was discussion of having a hand-out of the Manifesto. Maybe we redo the brochure to have the Manifesto (or the main principles?) on one side and a condensed version of the current brochure on the other?
I prepared a small contents list for the brochure update. Will post it at wiki page as well.

https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0ASuMLKSsm2jfZGRiNjh3NXZfNWZkbWJjM3I3&hl=en
Thanks for thinking through this. Will be interested to see this getting filled out a little bit to figure out what additional content could be added and what existing stuff could be reduced or removed.
I am fully at your disposal. I just mentioned what topics should be covered, and if you need any help regarding the actual text for the brochure, you can count on me.
If you wanted to take a pass at new/updated text, that would be great. I think the more information we have for people to react to, the better the feedback will be.
Whatever we did back then is good enough today, resolving WORKSFORME.
