Build Identifier: 3.0.1

Following upgrade to 3.0.1 firefox now prints all fonts in an unrecognisable & unintelligible font. Graphics are still ok. Lots of french accents: acutes, cidillas, circumflex, letters squashed together, lower & uppercase appearing randomly in the middle of words. There appear to be words with a number of letters & then a space every so often.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open any web page
2.Print
3.
Actual Results:
As above.

Expected Results:
As above

This is important for me as I use the software for business. I print bank stmts from it & therefore can't use it with this issue.
Is this a bug report or a request for support documentation?
I suppose you could call it a request for support documentation. I don't know. The thing worked prior to the upgrade & now it doesn't. I've worked thru the knowledge base & been unable to locate anything that might explain it in terms of set up.
This problem is usually caused by old print drivers that aren't working properly. Since a lot of people are experiencing this, it should be documented.

c.boyes, so you're aware, bugs filed in support.mozilla.com:Knowledge Base Articles are just for documentation. When this bug gets marked as fixed, that only means that the document has been created, not that the problem is fixed. I just want to make sure you're aware of that.

Matthew, I think this might fit into <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+prints+pages+incorrectly>.

If it's a PDF, this might be a dupe of bug 444037.
Could be old print drivers, could also be a bug with certain fonts using the wrong glyph indexing mode. We had a problem with type 1 fonts and the like; would be good to get some details from reports (printer type, printer driver version, default fonts, etc.)... but to really diagnose it would require someone deep-diving into their particular fonts on their system. See bug 432071 and bug 396315.

"unintelligible" may not be the best word; so if anyone has better suggestions, I'm all ears.

We'll definitely have to use tags to make this article findable (people will no doubt use a bunch of different terms to search), I don't think there's a perfect wording that everyone will search with. I'd agree with what vlad suggested "Web pages print with the wrong letters" simple and describes the problem well.
I have the same problem and installed all new print drivers and also tested on different printers.

The problem only occours with FF 3 but not with FF 2.5. I did not find any solution so far, but not to use FF.
According to https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/how-the-knowledge-base-works, article requests are no longer tracked in Bugzilla.

Reporter, if you consider your request is still applicable, post a new thread describing the content with "[Proposed] Name of the article" as title in https://support.mozilla.com/forums/knowledge-base-articles

I close this bug as invalid.
