URGH!
When closing a firefox tab with a particular PTZ webcam listed below, firefox continues to download the stream invisibly, thus eating half of my bandwidth allocation ON MY FIRST DAY OF THE BILLING PERIOD!!! :(

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Visit URL: http://www.liveworldwebcam.net/webcam/Australia/788/Toowoomba/Toowoomba+Obsevatory.html
Wait for the PTZ webcam to load.
Now close the tab, and watch your usage meter as firefox consumes all of your f*cking bandwidth.

Actual Results:
My usage meter continued as if the tab was still open

Expected Results:
It should have stopped downloading the stream!

Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2.

When trying the same "Steps to reproduce problem" in Internet explorer, closing that particular IE tab stops it from downloading.

Interestingly, if I open a new instance of firefox and then view the webcam, on closing the TAB on that firefox it continues to download, and even closing that instance of firefox continues downloading. Only when all instances are closed does the usage meter finally show 0 bytes/sec

Good luck with fixing this one! I feel for the poor people who don't notice until it is too late...
please do not spam in the bugreport this report was duped against to - thanks!

Hi XTC4UALL,
I reject your assertion that I was spamming. That website stole 7.5GB of my quota today and I'm not happy. How would you expect me to show the steps to reproduce it without showing the URL which caused this?

The reason I didn't find the previous bug that you cited is because it is 18 MONTHS old!

Thank you for seeing the similarities - hopefully this bug can be addressed before its second birthday...

Alex, XtC4UaLL wasn't calling you a spammer, he was just asking that you don't go to the bug this is marked a dupe of and add a useless comments like "OMG I WANT THIS FIXED" or something. He's not saying you WOULD have done this, but many bug reports DO do this, so he was just explicitly stating that you shouldn't do this :)

Also, this bug sound very like a dupe of bug 373701 so unless you have a compelling arguement otherwiswe, please don't unresolve the bug again. Thanks!
