Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: 2.0.0.16 (20080708)

From an open mail, adding an address to the address book (using right-click context menu) that is already in there, the user is given no hint that it is already there. You will end up with multiple entries of the same email address.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Right click an email address in an email
2. Add it to your adress book
3. If it has been already there, another entry was created
Actual Results:
There is a new entry (with only the info i added now. The old informations remains in the first entry). That means i can have many entries of the same email adress with different additional info.

Expected Results:
The user should be warned that the email address is already in the address book.

Additional feature (that would make it great insteat of "ok"): Already existing entry should cause the whole entry to open for further editing.
Duplicate of bug 450803, this has recently be fixed and will be included in the Thunderbird 3 release.
