Accelerator keys not working in menus

Details
for the last week or so, accelerator keys have not been working in menus. I can
Alt-F to bring up the file menu, but no keys will actually select any menu
items. I also cannot use the arrow keys to select menu items.. I can use them to
move between the menus, but not to actually select an item
This is really bad, really affects usability and accessability, and just makes
us look really bad if we can't get menus right.
