I am a web programmer and often have to resort to using PHP scripts to process some mass data

Recently I noticed that the scripts I ran did not run as expected and appeared as if I had run them already, when I obviously have not. Luckily I put in some code to avoid duplicate entries.

I then noticed that when I typed in the URL of my script in the address bar, the little icon on the left side of the address bar did a little animation when I finished typing... I am assuming this is a auto preload feature of the browser.. can you please either turn this off or at the very least give me an option to turn it off? This little feature of yours may cause problems for programmers like me in the future and if someone was unlucky enough not to notice this and did not put in some sort of protection code or backed up their data they may end up with something like an empty database without ever knowing why.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. type in URL
2. little icon on left does animation
3. my script was 'run' without me even running it
Actual Results:
my script at URL loads before I want to

Expected Results:
URL stays there without 'preloading'
Can you please give a website address that shows this issue? This seems to be an enhancement request.
Also, what icon is this, is it the favorites star, or the arrow?

Please try this in Safe Mode as well.

Summary: Auto Page preload causing problems → Option to turn off "Auto-Preload" (If it exists)
Also, Jason, please go to Bug 454382 and tell me if that is the same as this issue.
yes it seems to be the same issue as bug 454382

when I type in an address in my address bar I see a loading animation where the site icon is usually at (left side of address bar), and the page is accessed once already.
a better series of steps to take to reproduce bug/whatever you wanna call it:
1) type in an address you've *never* been to...
2) when you finish typing, on the left hand side of the address bar where the page icon shows (i.e. for this page it's the bugzilla fav.ico icon) does a little animation where a dark grey circle spins clockwise.
3) it seems like a non-existant URL gives a slightly longer animation as I guess the browser tries to search for it.
So far as I know, that little spinning animation in the favicon spot is simply getting identity information for the site. I do not think that this should affect your scripts.
I agree with Tyler - the spinning animation is not affecting the script.

Maybe you have the same problem as <a ref="https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=454382">Bug 454382</a>. Does your link validate correctly?
Jason, can you please give a link to this page, if possible? Or, give a testcase that shows this issue.
This is a mass search for bugs which are in the Firefox General component, are
UNCO, have not been changed for 500 days and have an unspecified version.

Reporter, can you please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or later, create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/managing+profiles, and test again. If you still see the issue, please update this bug. If the issue is gone, please set the status to RESOLVED > WORKSFORME.
