We noticed the following issue during our first German community meeting while talking about SUMO. Everything on the homepage is translated except the heading. It still appears as "Firefox Help & Tutorials" in each locale. This string is a major part of this website and should be shown localized. No idea if this is a regression because one of the attendees noted that it should have been worked sometimes ago.
Assigning to a.topal, who is the de Firefox Support locale leader. This is translatable through the interactive translation feature. <http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Translating+the+interface> <http://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/UIl10n>

Well, no matter what I try, it won't change to my translation. Everything else works, but the heading stays in English

Chris, what I forgot to mention: This happens for all locales and not only German. So I believe it could be a core issue.
What is the German translation? I'll try it myself.
Kadir, what translation have you taken?
Can't change the string "Firefox Help & Tutorials" too. Proposed string is: Firefox-Hilfe & Anleitungen
Okay, it doesn't seem to be working for me either. :-( In the meantime, try the method at <http://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/UIl10n>.
(In reply to comment #7) > Okay, it doesn't seem to be working for me either. :-( > In the meantime, try the method at <http://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/UIl10n>. Anyone interested in doing this? Chris, what is your plan for all the other locales?
Is this happening on other locales?
Chris, see my comment 3. All locales are affected. Just switch through the list of available locales and you will notice that "Firefox Help & Tutorials" is used everywhere.
Summary: Heading on kb homepage is not translated → Interactive translator does not work on "Firefox Help & Tutorials"
Nelson; one thing I noticed that could give a clue, is that when I try to translate "Firefox Help" at <http://support-stage.mozilla.org/de/kb/Firefox+Hilfe>, it offers both "Firefox Help & Tutorials" and "Firefox Help".
I can't find the string "Firefox Help & Tutorials" in the file linked at http://wiki.mozilla.org/Support/UIl10n
Definitely wanted for 0.8.

Eric, can you check this out? This UI translation thing is something we might want to talk about more generally.

This landed with bug 423829. & (and other entities, presumably) were getting double decoded, which prevented users from actual translating the &.

Is this already pushed to production? If yes, Thomas could you check if we can translate the heading now?
It's just in stage for now. That said, Thomas feel free to test that there and verify this bug. SUMO 1.0 will be pushed to prod on March 24th. Keep the Champagne chilled!
I've tested it and it works fine. Thanks! Verified.

FWIW, this fix has been pushed to support.mozilla.com. So any localizers CCed on this bug should be able to make the edits on support.mozilla.com now.
Chris, can you post this to the l10n newsgroup? I believe a couple of localizers, who are not cc'ed here, will be interested.
