There is a visible delay between clicking on a link and the actual initiation of the drag. This often prevents me from successfully dragging things. Tested on Linux Build 2000071308, but seen frequently in the past. You can see this by quickly mousing over a link, clicking, and dragging in one motion. The link color will change to active, indicating that the mousedown was registered, but the drag does not start. This bug is most easily seen on pages that have different colors for link and alink, like http://www.mozilla.org/
Whoops, this should have been event handling. Changing component and owner.
This bug has been marked "future" because the original netscape engineer working on this is over-burdened. If you feel this is an error, that you or another known resource will be working on this bug,or if it blocks your work in some way -- please attach your concern to the bug for reconsideration.

worksforme Linux mozilla 2000-12-28-08. Event Handling probably isn't the right component anyway. D&D should go to XPToolkit, so reassigning.
This works pretty well for me too (linux/mac/win32 current builds). I do recall when there was a much greater, and more noticeable lag in the init of the drag, but it seems fine to me now (either in HTML pages or in the mailnews threadPane where it could also get behind the drag). Jeffrey: how does it look to you?
I haven't noticed this in a long time.
