Mail UE Review Meeting, 7/13/00. It was agreed that the first screen of the New Account Wizard should be modified as follows: (* ) ISP or Provider Email Account (Default) ( ) America Online Email Account ( ) Netscape Web Mail Account ( ) Newsgroup Account --------------------------- Sol Goldfarb wrote: As you may know, resources to work on Activation in Netcenter are scarce - we are pushing hard to preserve the initial Activation sequence displayed in Seamonkey and to pass information regarding the existence of Netscape Web Mail accounts to Mail. We will not get "downstream activation" - the ability for someone already using a profile in Seamonkey to invoke Activation to set up a new Netcenter account (including a new Netscape Web Mail account). Originally - we had structured the first screen of the New Account wizard to provide 2 paths for email accounts - (1) get me a new (Netscape Web Mail) account, or (2) configure Seamonkey Mail for my existing AOL or other email account. Because of the lack of resources in Netcenter described above, the first path (new Netscape Web Mail account) is not going to happen. Therefore, our existing first screen of the New Account Wizard doesn't really make sense, since all email accounts will be "existing".
nominate as b3mail Simone, please verify capitalization :-)
It should read as follows: ISP or provider email account (default) America Online email account Netscape Web Mail account -- (since Netscape Web Mail a proper name) Newsgroup account
You didn't mention "CompuServe". Is this out?
Based on Sol's email, I was assuming it was out. Sol, can you verify?
Yes - Compuserve out. After repeated attempts, I was not able to reach them to confirm that they wanted to be in.
change b3mail to nsbeta3.
P1 per Mail UE review
- per mail triage
I think that this got a P1 in UE review, so I'll go back on the minus and plus this one. It lloks like this is critical to that first impression. Removing - and addiing plus for beta3.
Adding myself to CC: list.
Marking as in-progress so people don't waste their time on this one
to PDT: this is a P1 based on all of our usability feedback from the UE team. Even though this is not data loss or a crash, users need to have it be made easy for them to create accounts and have the interface be intuitive.
PDT agrees - P1
Putting [pdtp1] in whiteboard
fix has been checked in.
duh, actually marking as fixed
Build 2000-09-11-08M18: NT4, Linux 6.0, Mac 9.04 Reopening The order of the items is correct but the syntax doesn't match the attachment. It currently displays: - Existing Mail Account - America Online - Newsgroup Account It should actually state: - ISP or email provider - AOL account (For example, email@example.com) - Newsgroup account
ugh, I think I know what's wrong, but it's taking forever to verify/fix due to bug 52366
fix is in
Build 2000-09-15-06M18: NT4, Linux 6.0, Mac 9.04 Reopening because it doesn't match the spec. Did someone decide that the wording should be changed? It now displays: - ISP or Provider Email account - America Online - Newsgroup account The spec states that it should state: - ISP or email provider - AOL account (For example, firstname.lastname@example.org) - Newsgroup account
oh crap, this was me. I took the wording from the top example, not the spec. That was dumb.
oops, meant to add: Scott/Scott, can I get a review? That patch also contains the fix for #52178
this looks good too.
sorry, one more "review" required if you want to call it that :)
fixes are in
