I run xterms with ssh sessions to build machines. While editing, or even when idle, I get dropped connections, forcing me to relogin and recovered files being edited. $ vi moRead from remote host staging-master.build.mozilla.org: Connection reset by peer Connection to staging-master.build.mozilla.org closed. fyi: mrz did an experiment starting Friday where he was able to connect to the same moz2-linux-slave04.build.m.o machine, using the same "cltbld" user account, and remain connected over the weekend. However, over the same weekend, I lose connections intermittently from every few minutes to a few hours. Never yet been able to keep a connection open for an entire day. This experiment makes me think it might be a problem with my laptop, but thats just a SWAG? This has always been a bit of a problem, but feels like its become worse recently. Help?
Summary: SSH sessions being dropped to build machines → SSH sessions being dropped from my laptop to build machines
fyi, the only timeout setting on the firewall is an hour for idle tcp connections. However, since you mentioned you get dropped connections while editting, that's probably not it. btw, I was able to duplicate this by going through mpt-vpn - my idle connection was disconnected an hour later.

Happened again several times today. Sometimes while editing a doc. Sometimes while working in one window, would lose all ssh connections, including the one I'm working in and the other "idle" ones that I was working in just a few minutes before...
This sounds more like you're losing all network connectivity. Do you notice drops while streaming some audio/video content?
John, have you been able to duplicate this drop while streaming some thing?
Marking closed. When/if it happens again I need to know if you've lost connectivity or if it's something else. Hoping to see if you can duplicate this drop while streaming some thing.
