1st, i m on a p200 w/128ram
when i go to the options, every page take 1 sec before being showed
it s VERY slow.. and when i pushed on a button, it takes to many times to
respond..
very annoying :-(
I believe this is mostly a known issue with performance regarding preferences
menus, bug the multiple clicks required i'm not 100% sure about.
I believe this works OK in current builds hoever.

When reporting bugs, please always include the build ID you are using.
-In older builds, you find that number on the lower right of statusbar.
-In newer builds it's found on top, in the windows titlebar area.

Without a build ID included in the bug-report, it's hard to determine if a bug
is new, known, or already solved.
Reporter mailed, and is using build ID 2000061311 (M16)
preference menus? do you really mean selecting items from the preference's
category tree (left side of the dialog)? please provide detailed steps to
reproduce this problem. thx much!
updating the summary to better reflect the problem.

T'az, what is the speed of your computer? (eg, 100 Mhz, 200 Mhz, ou...?) and how
much RAM do you have on your computer?

jrgm, have you seen this occur on a slow win95 yet? methinks that might be the
cause of this bug.

Summary: all the menu need many times to be showed... → select item from category tree, takes a long time to update right panel
Can you check something? Go into Prefs and select the Debug panel. Make sure
that the option 'Disable XUL Cache' is _not_ checked.
yep, Disable XUL Cache is disabled for me (and i don't see this bug).

T'az, could you try this out?
Taz: when anyone write in the bug-form here, bugzilla automatically generate

So when you comment: click the link you see on top of mail

Got mails from reporter, who commented:

"like said just before i ve a pentium 200Mhz with 128 ram i use win95 osr2"

and about XUL cache:

"it s not checked, and it s even slow
during this time, the cpu is working at 100%
may be it s not a bug, but only the code which needs an optimisation...."
apologies to T'az --my brain only read the last comments of this bug and forgot
the initial machine info at the top... doh!
h'm, i looked at one of our win95 boxes (133 Mhz, 48M RAM). admittedly, i wasn't
using the latest bits (instead looking at 2000.07.18.xx), but when i was going
thru the pref category tree, it took 1-2sec to update the right panel. methinks
this is expected with that configuration --but it seems what T'az is seeing is
much worse, and on a faster/beefier machine.

jrgm, further thoughts...?

Well, there will be work done in the next while on performance issues. I hope
to collect some data on slow features in the UI and profile them, so this is
one, and we should keep it open in the meantime. However, I don't know if there
is a specific 'thing' to be done for what happens in the prefs panel.
T'az, this turns out to be a dup...

first, thx to RKA a for having me said i replyed not correctly
2. i know my cpu is a bit slow but there is need to have a Pentium 4Ghz to show
a simple menu!!!
3. there is also a "lag" in the general menus,it takes 0.5 sec before the menu
scroll down, it seems it s the same bug as the one in the preferences
feel free to verify these (or reopen, if still a problem) if i don't get around
to it beforehand. if you do so, pls do remove the verifyme keyword after
verifying a given bug. thx!
