See bug 456034 and the last review (June 26, 2008) of the "Bandwidth Meter and Diagnostics" extension - apparently it breaks SSL error page, so that adding an exception isn't possible. With a major issue like this, that extension shouldn't be public. According to description there is a newer version available - maybe that one fixes the bug, if so it should be made public.
I've sandbox'ed the add-on ...notified the author via email as well. Closing.
