Up until 5 days ago I could access the website with no problem. Now when I try to do the same thing, the browser crashes. I can pull the same site up on MSIE, so it is a valid website and functioning properly.
I thought it was an add-on problem, so I got rid of all add-ons. No help. Then I reloaded another copy of FF, newest version, thinking any bugs would clear out. No help.
I checked the security system for both Windows Vista, the HP desktop I am using and Trendmicro security software. I am not the swift when it comes to diagnostics so I amy have missed doing something that would have helped the problem.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open FF. Type in http://www.sigmakappa-phoenix.org
2. Click on Enter. Wait, Screen goes to muted white and a MS dialog box shows up telling me that Windows is closing FF, also offering to find a solution online.
3.Browser closes.
Actual Results:
The Windows dialog box states that Windows" Data Execution Prevention has closed FF. Then the browser closes.
Expected Results:
FF should be able to open http://www.sigmakappa-phoenix.org, as it had done previously (past 5 days ago).
I also tried opening FF in safe mode. Still had the same problem. :-(

Great that you already tried the safemode :-)
Are you using a 64bit vista version ?
This works fine for me with FF3.01 and Seamonkey trunk on vista(32 bit).
You can try a new, additional profile.

If it's still crashing you can try to create and attach (using the add an attachment link in this bug) a stacktrace :
http://developer.mozilla.org/en/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg
I don't know if we get useful data if DEP is closing FF.

Matthias, I checked on the Vista Home Version I have. It is 32 bit. Will try some of the other options you listed in your email. Any ideas on how to completely disable DEP? Wish I had stayed with XP now. :-(

Such a crash is usually caused either by a plugin (flash, java) but there is no object tag on that site.
Then there are bad addons that are coming with binary components that can cause this.
It could be of course a bug in Firefox itself but as I said i can not reproduce this with the same version under the same OS. but there can be still a bug in Firefox that depends on something else to trigger in your system.
I don't know if it's a good idea to disable DEP but found this instructions via google:

Hi Matthias,
Well, I solved the problem with the sigmakappa-phoenix.org. I reinstalled the entire Vista Home Basic operating system on my HP desktop. Seems the problem was more with the operating system rather than Firefox browser problems.
Thanks for all your help and ideas!!
Kind regards,
Carol Sweeney
