User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008071615 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc9 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008071615 Fedora/3.0.1-1.fc9 Firefox/3.0.1
Normally if you type 'foo' into Firefox's address bar then in its default configuration it does a Google search for 'foo'. Obviously, in offline mode it cannot do this. But instead it turns the string without asking into http://foo/. That means if you go online again and 'Try again', you don't get the result you expect.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. File->Work offline, or disconnect the network.
2. Open new tab, enter 'foo' in address bar, and press Enter.
3. See the message that appears saying the network is unavailable. Fair enough.
4. Reconnect the network or turn off File->Work offline.
5. Press 'Try again'.
Actual Results:
An error page appears for URI http://foo/ saying 'Firefox can't find the server at foo'.
Expected Results:
The 'Try again' button should give the same results you would have got from entering 'foo' while online, that is, a search result.

Ed. How do you interpret v3.5 behavior?
For me v3.7a is different from comment 0, but I'm not sure I understand what the correct behavior should be.

This is a mass search for Firefox General bugs filed against version 3.0 that are UNCO and have not been changed for 200 days.
Reporter, please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or alter. Firefox 3.0 is no longer supported and is no longer receiving updates. After you update, please create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/kb/managing+profiles, and test to see if your bug still exists. If you still the bug, then please post a comment with the version you tested against, and the problem. If the issue is no longer there, please set the RESOLUTION to RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

This still occurs with Firefox 4 beta 6, though instead of becoming 'http://foo/' the address bar remains saying 'foo'. But the result is the same; when you press Try Again it says "Firefox can't find the server at foo" rather than performing a web search, as would have happened when online.
(Updating version to trunk since I don't see an option for 'Firefox 4' in the version dropdown.)

Just a note to say this is still reproducible with Firefox 4 beta 11. Could someone try it out and change the status if they observe the same behaviour?
