User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1.16) Gecko/20080702 Firefox/2.0.0.16
Quite often - at least once a week - I notice that Firefox is no longer accepting the correct spelling of words such as "colour" and "practise". Invariably, the problem is that the language has reverted to "English / United States", and the "English / United Kingdom" dictionary is not only unselected but completely missing from the context (sub)menu, as well as from the list of installed extensions.
I have never knowingly removed this dictionary. I have, however, had to reinstall it (and restart Firefox) dozens of times.
I also have the "English / Canada" dictionary installed; it doesn't disappear, but I only tend to use it when the UK dictionary has disappeared and I need to finish spell-checking a form before submitting it (and don't want to lose my form entries by restarting Firefox).
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install "English / United Kindgom" dictionary.
2. Restart Firefox.
3. Select dictionary.
4. Wait a few days/weeks.
Actual Results:
Dictionary selection is "English / United States", and that UK dictionary is completely missing from list of extensions.
Expected Results:
Expect dictionary to remain "English / United Kingdom" until I chose otherwise.

I use several dictionaries (French, British English, American English and Hebrew) and I encounter the same problem on and off (Mozilla 3.5.2 in French running on Windows XP home edition).
Reproducible: Not always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install several dictionaries
2. Restart Firefox
3. Right-click while writing email and move mouse over "languages" to see what choices are available
4. If all dictionaries appear restart Firefox and try again
Expected results:
Expect all dictionaries installed to be listed continually.

Clarifying my preceding post:
What happens is that only the current dictionary is available in the contextual menu when the bug happens, not the other dictionaries though they are installed. I think I've people mentioning related bugs in Mozilla programs other than Firefox.

Also, please consider using the most recent Firefox 4 beta build, your bug may be resolved there.

I haven't seen this occur in quite a long time, so it seems like it's probably fixed. I will re-open if I am able to reproduce with a current version.
