I really like the feature of textareas being "zoomed large" when they get focus, but sometimes, I'd rather see other stuff on the screen instead (instead of a big empty white box).  For instance, if writing a short reply, it's useful to see nearby comments, but if creating a new issue, a big box is likely wanted.

It would be nice if a user had the "Zoom textareas large when in use" pref turned off, they would be able to zoom/unzoom (expand/collapse) manually by means of a +/- link located just to the right of the text area box.

We used this with much success before the "zoom textareas" pref was implemented.
