Build Identifier: 2.0.0.16 (20080707)
Signature txt keeps on being inserted despite the folllowing :
(a) Unticking the "Attach this signature" checkbox
(b) Replacing the signature txt with a blank txt file
(c) Deleting and re-creating associated account
This is definitley NOT a mail server putting in the signature. My testing has been carried out using the ISPs mail server. The signature in question was a disclaimer that I wanted to start using on some emails.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
N.B. Don't know what happens if you don't use the "Manage Identities" function.
1.Select account to edit
2.Click "Manage Identities"
3.Add a new identity
4.Edit the new identity and attach signature
5.Send some test mail to show the new ID with sig works
6. Try to remove sig (untick box)
7. Sig still appears !
8. Try to replace sig txt with blank txt
9. Sig stil appears !
10. Delete and re-create account
11. Sig Still appears
Actual Results:
Signature still there
Expected Results:
Signature not there
n/a

Sure you actually selected the correct From identity when composing?
I would encourage you to re-read my posting.
Yes I have. You will also note I deleted the account (not just the second identity, the actual account) and re-created it from scratch.
Note also that I've just tried to reproduce this on my OS X 10.4.1 laptop and have been unable to. So it looks like it is a 10.5.x issue.
That may by why you are unable to reproduce ??

Could it me some extension issue?
Can you reproduce on a fresh profile? (Start thunderbird with the -P swith and create a second profile.)
Have created a brand new profile (-P etc...)
Setup new mail account. And before I did anything in relation to identities, signatures or anything else, I sent a test message.
Indeed the signature still appears.
As far as I am aware, no third party extensions here.
The above test was on the OS X 10.5.5 machine (also happened on 10.5.4)

Do you see the signature in the composition window while composing?
Nope ...... and it doesn't appear on the copy of the email Thunderbird sticks into the "sent" folder on my IMAP server.
I can assure you (have verified headers), that my machine is talking directly to the ISPs mail server.

If it doesn't appear in the composition nor in the copy in the sent folder, I find it very unlikely this is something thunderbird is adding.
I'd try using another sending server (smtp), and also try sending to an email in another domain (just in case the receiving server is doing something odd with the mail).
