Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1
Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.17 (20080708)
Thunderbird says that it is wants to update to version 2.0.0.17. I accepted the request and the process seems to begin. Shortly after seeing a progress bar appear, a message pops up that the update cannot be applied because of an error in a file. At that point, the only response to the message is "OK". The update process seems to end but then restarts and the progress bar again gets to about 3 cells (out of maybe 30), the same message box appears indicating the update cannot be applied and the process stops and starts again repeatedly.
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
The pattern or starting and stopping convinced me to reboot my machine and perform a system restore. Following the restore, I was able to bring up Thunderbird and the program reports its version as: version 2.0.0.17 (20080708).
I don't know if the update is applied properly or not. I don't know if any lasting damage has occurred. When I click on the "Help->Check for updates" I get a pop-up message that there is an update available to be applied and it is version 2.0.0.17. I will not attempt to apply this update again because of the problems I experienced.
