newest Firefox 3.0 wouldn't let me upload a zip file to Blackboard. uploads OK with IE. Previous version 2. something uploaded OK too.  just happened 2 days ago, and I've downloaded all automatic 'updates' to Firefox.

Always, really always add the error message in the a report.

And what is Blackboard ?
Do you have an example URL ?

This is an issue with the Blackboard Fourm itself.
You can not get the path to the file with Firefox3 for privacy reasons. The file upload isn't affected but the Forum does some checks for the path.
