This happens when the autoupdate popup message box (e.g. "3.0.3 update loaded etc.") appears WHILE I'm using Firefox. I have verified that the connections were not dropped neither by the network card nor by the network (or the cable). I had to uninstall Firefox and then install the latest version afresh.
