Firefox does not open the website www.vanvliet.com (http://www.vanvliet.com/).  When I enter the website address and press ENTER, a dialogue box opens and shows following:

which is a: httpd/unix-directory
from http://www.vanvliet.com

What should Firefox do with this file?
Open with (BROWSE button)
Save File

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Cleared cache
2. Shut down Firefox
3. Restarted Firefox
4. Entered address as www.vanvliet.com << error in ACTUAL RESULTS
5. Entered address as http://www.vanvliet.com/  <<< Error on ACTUAL RESULTS
Actual Results:  
1. The page goes blank
2. A dialogue box opens and shows following:

which is a: httpd/unix-directory
from http://www.vanvliet.com

What should Firefox do with this file?
Open with (BROWSE button)
Save File

-Do this automatically for files like this from now on.



Expected Results:  
The website should open.


- The website had worked fine in Firefox when I turned off my PC last night.
- I have not installed or updated any software on my PC since last shut off
- The website is working fine in Internet Explorer 7 and SAFARI 3.1 running on the same PC

Works for me, Firefox 3.0.3 on Linux.  Temporary server problem?

This is wfm with a current Seamonkey trunk.

Reporter:
You would not get this problem in IE (don't know about safari) because they do incorrectly do content-sniffing.

If you still get this delete your disk cache (tools/clear private data/[x]cache and try it again.

This is a mass search for Firefox General bugs filed against version 3.0 that are UNCO and have not been changed for 200 days.

Reporter, please update to Firefox 3.6.10 or alter. Firefox 3.0 is no longer supported and is no longer receiving updates. After you update, please create a fresh profile, http://support.mozilla.com/kb/managing+profiles, and test to see if your bug still exists. If you still the bug, then please post a comment with the version you tested against, and the problem. If the issue is no longer there, please set the RESOLUTION to  RESOLVED, WORKSFORME.

No reply from reporter, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
