458214 - Bookmark tab will not let me file a new bookmark. Problem started 9/30/08

I want to save a site and click the bookmark tab. It drops down but when I click, file bookmark nothing happens. It is not listed anywhere under the tab headings. I use Explorer at this time to save locations.

Can you still create a bookmark by dragging the locationbar favicon to the folder?

I experienced this as well and had to uninstall Firefox 3.0.10.  Since I could no longer add or even edit my bookmarks I went backward, to 

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.1) Gecko/20061204 Firefox/2.0.0.1

and lo and behold, the bookmarking feature is working correctly.  Something must have happened when Firefox went from version 2 to version 3.

I am now experiencing this with 

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2

The error as copied from the ERROR CONSOLE:

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.10 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
