Yesterday I was notified of a new update. OK. Everything normal. Clicked Restart Later. Left it, opened again this morning. Only one folder has old (pre UD) mails in it. Drafts(1) shows in the side bar - nothing in the list pane. Tried Application Data and Profiles - nothing. Opened files with T' Bird. Nil, same result. This is really bad. Legals are gone. Contractuals gone. New business gone. Pareto Logic wants a mountain of money to recover (tank of gas).
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. It's just there. Done deal. No recourse. Just opens like that every time.
2. Tried to find files, open with other apps. Nil.
3.
Install like all the previous updates. Without losing my important data. What else? This has never happened before. I use Evermore Integrated OneOffice (www.evermore/sw.com.cn) on the Java Media Framework. There are some bugs there which I could not yet solve. Andrew Drummond their International Sales Manager at us_support@evermoresw.com said it may be file association tags (but that info detail is now lost with the emails). I have an error file related to Evermore, but how do I send it to you? Ah, I see the "new attachment" link. I will send it to Andrew. The Evermore problem is not very serious as there are easy though tedious work arounds. T' Bird and OneOffice are high quality apps and I will not turf them. Period. The bugs; however; have to be fixed.
The main irk is that I had no control over the update. Now I'm stuck. Fixing the bug is OK for the next auto update. How do I get my data back? I know deleted files only have the headers removed. How about free (as in T' Bird) data recovery apps?

It may be relevant in terms of how files are handled. My emails (files) are lost after the last auto update. I do not know if the Java Media Framework affects my PC.
