Hey there: When you select the category "Firefox" and locale "English" there are no basic Firefox affiliate buttons. There are for other locales.
Can you look at this or get them added?

The basic Fx affiliate buttons are split between the Firefox and Firefox 3 categories. We'll need to merge them somehow. I'll work on this with Mary and Rolo since it can be done from the admin menu.

Which buttons do you want in this category? The Firefox 3 buttons? Maybe these are duplicate categories?

A few things here:
Is it possible to combine the Firefox 3 and Firefox categories? Ideally we'd just call it "Firefox". If there's not an easy way for you to do this, let me know and I can do it via the admin interface (it's pretty tedious though).
Is there a way to recategorize the foxkeh brazil buttons? Currently a search for Foxkeh and brazil doesn't reveal anything, but it should show the Brazilian foxkeh buttons (currently you can see these when you select "Firefox 3" --> "Brazil")
Also, maybe it would be best to have an "all" in the dropdown menu for each category.
Thanks for the help here. I think once we have the categorization settled, we should be ok moving forward.

Hey Alex -- any thoughts on this? I realize that you are shifting off this program this quarter but I'm hoping this will be pretty straight-forward. If you don't have bandwidth, can someone else from webdev help out? We have a lot more buttons coming down the pipe and we'll want to make sure our categories are set.

If you want a quick-run solution, I can write up a SQL query to move all Firefox 3 buttons to Firefox. Do you want me to do that?
I know the admin UI sucks :) but unfortunately it was outside the scope of the Q3 changes, so I left it. These category/button changes seem routine, so if it's too difficult for the admin interface, maybe we should file a bug to upgrade the admin UI to something more usable?
The Brazillian Foxkeh buttons were under the Firefox category on the old affiliates page, so I kept it the same on the new one. If you want to move them to Foxkeh, there is the admin UI, or I can make a one-off SQL query.
I think throwing "all" in the mix could confuse things more. For example, there a lots of buttons that look the same, but have a different redirect for each locale. If you selected "all" in the locale box, you'd have all those buttons mixed together.
All for the categories makes sense, but kind of defeats the purpose of having categories, IMHO.

Thanks Alex -- appreciate your help here.
Yeah, let's go ahead and move Firefox 3 buttons to "Firefox". And if you can also move the Foxkeh Brasil buttons, that would be great too.
I hear you on the "all" categories. Let's hold on that for now, though I can see as we expand our button selection that giving the user the option to see everything at once makes the most sense.
I'll also add the upgrade of the admin UI to the sfx Affiliates wiki page which is tracking what we've done and what's still left:

I assume we want this for launch, setting 3.0 target to get it on radar.

CC'ing Laura, because she's the affiliates lead these days.
I think there are two tasks here
1) Merge the 'Firefox 3' category into 'Firefox', remove 'Firefox 3' category
2) Move any/all Foxkeh buttons to the 'Foxkeh' category
- some are in 'Firefox 3' + 'English'
Laura, I think this can all be done in the admin panel, could handle this?

Looks like this was fixed on production, over at http://www.spreadfirefox.com/affiliates?category=27&locale=41#getbuttons.
I can confirm that #1 and #2 were done.
There is only one button that's still just "Firefox" (without a version number): http://sfx-images.mozilla.org/affiliates/Buttons/firefox3/110x32_get_ffx.png; is this fine? (It's the only button keeping us from renaming the category to "Firefox 3", but I guess that doesn't matter, right?
Ignore the latter portion of comment 12 -- this is verified FIXED.
