User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3
During a file download the download window appears and stays on the screen like its supposed to, however whatever file I have downloaded does not appear in the window once its finished but a confirmation comes up that all files have finished downloading. I would have to go and find it manually in my download location on the C drive.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to Download.com
2. Download a file
3. It will indicate the progress in the download window but once its finished the window is blank.
Actual Results:
The download window is blank
Expected Results:
As expected the download window is blank and doesn't show the downloaded file. It should have displayed the downloaded file in the download window as it used to. Clicking on the window does nothing.

Does it also fail in safe-mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox)
In that case try deleting the file downloads.sqlite in your profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder
I tried that (In reply to comment #2)

I deleted downloads.sqlite file but it didn't fix the issue, same problem.
I also verified that this is a problem on Vista Ultimate 64 bit SP 1 version. I cannot reproduce the issue on XP Pro SP3 version. It does not matter what file type you are downloading, it happens with all of them.

Component: File Handling → Download Manager
Product: Firefox → Toolkit
QA Contact: file.handling → download.manager
Version: unspecified → 1.9.0 Branch
I experience this problem too. On two different systems. Both are running XP Home Editions SP3. The window opens, the download occurs (can see the file name while downloading is occuring) but then the window is empty as soon as the download is done. This is very bothersome because the ability to then click on the download and then open it is not available when the box is empty. This happens with any and all downloads but I have only noticed it since I updated to Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.7) Gecko/2009021910 Firefox/3.0.7 recently.
Ok so I recently had to reinstall everything on my PC (including XP) and now its working but I figured something out. I am not sure what happened but I noticed that there is a feature in Firefox that does the same thing.
Go to Tools > Options > Privacy "tab" and make sure there is a check mark in "Remember what I've downloaded" option. This does it, now I am not sure how it was unchecked, perhaps sometime during the upgrade/new bug??
For me it was also the privacy tab. Thanks Shan. This is no longer a bug for me.

I experience the same bug using Open Suse Linux 10.3 and Namoroka Alpha 1.
It’s not a problem only in windows.

Same problem, with FF 13. I've deleted downloads.sqlite & temp files, uninstalled and reinstalled FF (a few times), changed all privacy settings to retain histories, installed various download extensions-- Nothing changes the fact that the download manager window shows the download in progress and then becomes blank. The downloaded files exist, but are not accessible through the download manager. When searching the forums, it looked as if a number of people are having the problem this week.
