User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3 Build Identifier: version 2.0.0.17 (20080914) When AVG Free detects a virus on incoming mail AVG pops up a notification and freezes Thunderbird. Even after selecting what to do with the file Thunderbird remains frozen and needs to be quit via task manager. I then need to login to my webmail app and manually sort through all my messages to allow Thunderbird to download and function properly. Note: This still occurs without AVG running. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Send an email with a virus known to AVG Anti Virus Free 2.Let me download it 3.Watch Thunderbird freeze Actual Results: Thunderbird stops functioning with only a few messages remaining usually. I'm then forced to login to my webmail app to manually sort through my mail. Expected Results: Thunderbird should not be freezing, it should allow AVG to function and continue it's part of the job. I suspect this is a known problem with the addon AVG installs, but you should check with http://support.mozilla.com

(In reply to comment #1) > I suspect this is a known problem with the addon AVG installs, but you should > check with http://support.mozilla.com I just took a look at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Antivirus_software and it seems that it's a little outdated since it's talking about AVG 7 and Thunderbird 1.0 but according to that it's ok. Are there any steps I could take to check this? Keep in mind that this was happening even when I shut down AVG.
we didn't mention mozillazine. we mentioned support.mozilla.com bugzilla.mozilla.org, which you're using has many bug reports which are caused by AVG. if you want to try searching bugzilla for them, you're welcome to do so. if you want to debug this, http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/How_to_get_a_stacktrace_with_WinDbg !analyze -v -hang

for Thunderbird support.mozilla.com refers back to mozilla.org which has a mozillazine search box. I was thinking of references to AVG related problems like http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Firefox+hangs#Hang_at_exit but really meant that you should contact the tech support people through the forums or live chat who'd know about the latest problems people were having.
